P6 Forensic scientists

23rd Mar 2018

This month P6 travelled to W5 to take part in a very exciting Forensic science workshop. Children were introduced to 'The case of the stolen laptop' where various clues were given to help solve the terrible crime!

We looked at how forensic scientists examine fingerprints at a crime scene, distinguishing between different types of prints and even printing our own. Using chromatography, groups were able to eliminate suspects based on the pen they had used for their signatures. Photographic evidence was also provided to allow us to see what the suspects looked like...some had very guilty faces! Finally, we analysed clothes fibres left at the scene to reveal the guilty suspect.

We all loved participating in this workshop and becoming real life forensic scientists for the day! Check out our photographs!
